AC/DC was formed in Sydney, Australia, in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. The band's name is derived from the acronym for "alternating current/direct current," a reference to the electrical power source used in many homes and businesses. In the early years, AC/DC struggled to find success, playing small venues and clubs around Australia. However, in 1975, they released their debut album, "High Voltage," which included hits like "T.N.T." and "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)." The album helped to establish AC/DC as a rising force in the rock music scene.

International Success:

Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, AC/DC continued to release hit albums and tour extensively. In 1980, the band released their seminal album, "Back in Black," which has since sold over 50 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. The album featured classics like "Hells Bells," "You Shook Me All Night Long," and the title track, "Back in Black." The success of "Back in Black" solidified AC/DC's place in rock history and helped to establish them as one of the most popular bands in the world.

Lineup Changes and Evolution:

Over the years, AC/DC has undergone several lineup changes. In 1980, the band's original lead singer, Bon Scott, died of alcohol poisoning. He was replaced by Brian Johnson, who has been the band's lead singer ever since. Despite this significant change, AC/DC continued to produce hit albums and tour extensively. In the 1990s, the band experimented with their sound, incorporating elements of grunge and alternative rock into their music. This evolution was evident in their albums "The Razor's Edge" and "Ballbreaker," which were both critical and commercial successes.

Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

In 2003, AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, cementing their place as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. The band's induction ceremony included performances by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, as well as Metallica, who cited AC/DC as a significant influence on their music.

Continued Success:

Despite the band's longevity, AC/DC has continued to release hit albums and tour extensively. In 2008, they released "Black Ice," which debuted at number one on the charts in 29 countries. The album featured hits like "Rock 'n' Roll Train" and "Big Jack" and was praised by fans and critics alike. In 2014, the band released "Rock or Bust," which was another critical and commercial success. The album featured the hit singles "Play Ball" and "Rock or Bust."

Legacy:

AC/DC's legacy can be felt in the music of countless other bands who have been inspired by their hard-hitting riffs and electrifying performances. Their influence on the rock music genre is undeniable, and their music has stood the test of time, continuing to entertain fans around the world.
