The Misfits were an American punk rock band formed in Lodi, New Jersey, in 1977. The band was founded by vocalist Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only, with guitarist Franché Coma and drummer Manny Martínez joining soon after. The Misfits are known for their horror-themed lyrics, melodic punk rock sound, and the iconic skull logo that has become synonymous with the band.

The Misfits were heavily influenced by horror movies and comics, and their music often reflects this interest. Their lyrics frequently reference classic horror themes, including monsters, ghosts, and zombies. The band's sound, meanwhile, is characterized by fast-paced punk rock riffs, with catchy hooks and sing-along choruses.

Despite their initial success, the Misfits were plagued by frequent lineup changes and personal conflicts. By 1983, the band had broken up, with Danzig going on to form the band Samhain and later, the eponymous Danzig. Jerry Only continued to perform under the Misfits name with various lineups, but it wasn't until 1995 that the classic lineup of Danzig, Only, and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein reunited for a Halloween show in Detroit. The reunion was short-lived, however, and the band once again disbanded in 2000.

In 2016, the Misfits reunited once again for a series of shows, with Danzig, Only, and Wolfgang von Frankenstein all taking part. The reunion was well-received by fans, and the band has continued to tour sporadically in the years since.

The Misfits have been cited as a major influence by countless punk and metal bands, including Metallica, Green Day, and AFI. Their music has also been featured in numerous movies and TV shows, including "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "South Park," and "The Hangover Part II."

Despite their relatively short career and frequent lineup changes, the Misfits remain one of the most iconic and influential punk rock bands of all time. Their horror-themed lyrics and distinctive sound have inspired countless bands in the years since, and their legacy continues to grow with each passing year. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just discovering their music for the first time, there's no denying the impact that the Misfits have had on the world of punk rock and beyond
