Sublime was an American reggae rock and ska punk band from Long Beach, California, and one of the few bands of their genre to have had mainstream with their exciting, eclectic sound.
The band was formed in 1988. the band enjoyed playing music together, so the original lineup stayed together for their entire career, which is very rare in popular music. The band consisted of Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Eric Wilson (bass), Bud Gaugh (drums). ' and Lou Dog, Nowell's dalmatian, who was the mascot of the band and possibly their most famous member as Lou Dog was featured in the music video for "What I Got"
"What I got" reached # 1 on the billboards alternative top 200 charts in the U.S.A " and as of 2022, the band has sold 20 Million records worldwide and 10 million of them in the United States
During the lifetime of the band, Sublime released three studio albums which were " 40 Ounces to Freedom," "Robin' The Hood," and their major label hit record, "Sublime."
The album was released two months after lead singer Brad Nowell's death. Nowell had struggled with heroin for many years, leading to his untimely death. So he never got to see how the band's music impacted the world.
After the release of the "Sublime" Record, to keep the momentum going and capitalize on the band's success, their record label released 3 Extended Plays and one Box set.
The success of their unique, famously underground sound has inspired many bands to follow in their footsteps.
