Originally from Staten Island, NY, the place where I was born and raised. Surely they are known as one of the forefathers of gangsta rap. They were also known for their love of Kung-Fu movies as the name of the group comes from the movie Shaolin and Wu-Tang. Not only does this movie name the group but then they affectionately re-name Staten Island “Shaolin” as a slang name for Staten Island.
