Although they were classified as Alternative Rock, "Weezer" was different. They were one of the first mainstream bands to foreshadow the burgeoning indie-rock scene and introduce the indie-rock look. Worn by Rivers Cuomo's I: E, his black glasses and slacker look to the masses.
When "Weezer" arrived, all the bands they were lumped in with had long hair and wore Cardigans. They set the stage for the look and sound of music's future, a look still popular today; thank you, Weezer (who doesn't like a pair of Black glasses)."
I mention all the elements of their music that were different from the other bands of that era because they were not afraid to change their sound or move forward, as shown by their second album Pinkerton.
. It was not a commercial success at the time, but it would become an underground classic. It is stated that it was the first Emo-record to be put out by a major label but also by respected indie rock fans, which was unheard of at that time.
I keep mentioning Weezers differences and Highlight Pinkerton because they weren't afraid to evolve and change with the times. This is why they are still popular today and, dare I say it, even a household name( that might be pushing it).
Many bands they came up with, like Hole, and even bands that came before them, like Motley Crue or Def Leppard ( Two bands that I Love). They only lasted during their moment in music history because they stuck to their original formula. Weezer never did
Weezer opened the door and made it cool and abundantly clear which bands helped them create their sound like "The Ramones," "Cheap Trick," Van Halen,"n and "Blondie."
They wear their musical heroes on their sleeves and have created a sound all of their own, which is why they still put out outstanding records today.
